With international travel on the back-burner, now is the perfect opportunity to explore the beauty of our own country. Australia is known around the world for its gorgeous landscapes, extensive flora and unique fauna. We’ve compiled a list of must-visit Australian destinations with breathtaking views, incredible creatures and limitless activities for you to indulge in this Spring.

Daintree Rainforest

Time to pack the car and begin the trail to Queensland. Starting an hour’s drive north of Cairns and covering an area almost equivalent to the size of Sydney, you’ll spend plenty of time exploring one of the world’s three oldest rainforests. Along the way, you’ll spot rare flora and fauna that have garnered the beautiful forest a World Heritage listing. Not to mention the amount of Insta-worthy pics courtesy of the exquisite tropical scenery, white sandy beaches, and fringing reefs. Don’t miss out on a guided night walk through the extensive forest, a cruise across the Daintree River looking for crocodiles, or the thrill of zip-lining through the rainforest canopy.

Hunter Valley

Calling all wine lovers! New South Wales’ very own wine country is just a two-hour drive from Sydney. Choose from 120 (yes, 120) different wineries, as well as an assortment of gourmet restaurants and spa retreats. You can also experience grape stomping, cheese- and pasta-making, hot air ballooning at sunrise and more! So, grab a few of your wine-, food- and spa- obsessed besties and tour the Valley either via guided tour or simply by yourselves.

Sapphire Coast

Can’t decide between Sydney and Melbourne? Located halfway between the two cities, the Sapphire coast gives you the best of both worlds. Spring is the perfect time to visit this hidden gem. Not only does whale migration allow for the ultimate whale watching experience at Eden, many local eateries are also back with seasonal treats! If you’re a fan of live entertainment, the local Longstocking Brewery, Pambula, is returning with live music nights starting in September. You can groove to the music as you sip on their delectable craft beer and cider and snack on some scrumptious wood-fired pizzas.

An archipelago of 74 islands, the Whitsundays is located in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef just off the Queensland coast. You can enjoy a slice of paradise by staying at one of the Whitsundays’ resorts at Hayman, Hamilton, or Daydream Island. From the moment you check in to one of these luxury resorts, your days will be full of hands-on, life-changing experiences. For example, the educational Living Reef allows you to meet local marine biologists and learn about the unique marine life of the islands. And don’t forget to pack your swimmers for a day cruise around all the iconic, must-see sights like the Great Barrier Reef and Whitehaven Beach.

Enjoy some time to unwind by surrounding yourself with some good company, beautiful landscapes, and indulging in some good food. Whether it be on foot, a cruise, or a scenic drive, discover just how rewarding it can be to go out and explore the wonders of our own backyard.
